As a kid growing up watching wrestling one of my favorites was the Ultimate Warrior. Jacked up, face paint, ran to the ring and shook the ropes like a mad man! This past weekend he went into the WWE Hall of Fame and Monday night appeared on Monday Night Raw. Tonight he is dead.

Ultimate Warrior, one of wrestling’s biggest superstars, has died at age 54. So far, the cause of Warrior’s death is unclear and we’ll have to wait for an official coronor’s report. More details as they become available. The wrestler is survived by his wife Dana and two daughters.

UPDATE: TMZ.com is now reporting the following regarding the death of Ultimate Warrior:

The Ultimate Warrior “clutched his chest” moments before he collapsed at an Arizona hotel Tuesday afternoon … this according to law enforcement sources who spoke with witnesses.

TMZ has learned … Warrior was walking down a hallway at the Gainey Suites Hotel in Scottsdale, AZ and headed toward his car with his wife — when he stopped, clutched his chest and went down.

We’re told Warrior never recovered.

We’re told there is no evidence to show drugs or alcohol were a factor in his death. All signs point to massive heart attack.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner tells us the autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

WWE posted a message on the official website saying, “WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior. ”

“Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest stars in WWE history. Warrior became WWE Champion at WrestleMania VI, defeating Hulk Hogan in an epic encounter. We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans.”

Here’s video of his last appearance on Raw:

With everything the WWE has pulled over the years, some may think this is a staged hoax, some angle. Logically it doesn’t make sense considering his recent celebratory events. That, and for the fact that wrestling superstars are tweeting his passing.

Triple H just tweeted, “Saddened to announce the passing of the Ultimate Warrior. Icon and friend. My sympathy to his wife Dana and his daughters.”

Stephanie McMahon also tweeted, “#RIPUltimateWarrior Your strength of character is to be admired. There will never be anyone like you. Your spirit lives on in your family.”

Hulk Hogan — Warrior’s greatest rival — has also tweeted: RIP WARRIOR. only love. HH

Kevin Nash wrote, “So happy I embraced Warrior with a hug when we saw each other backstage Saturday night. My heart goes out to his family. Always Believe.”

The Rock tweeted: Loss always has a way of reminding us to live and love as greatly as we can. My prayers and strength to his family. RIP Ultimate Warrior.

The Iron Sheik said — Break my heart. I love you forever #RIPUltimateWarrior.

I never thought I’d see the day that the Iron Sheik made me cry but that day is today. You know things are super sad when the Sheik shows some heart.

Wrestling fans everywhere new and old, are feeling this loss. To them I say, think of his speech on Raw  about how the Warrior spirit will always live on even after he is gone.  “I am the Ultimate Warrior, you are the Ultimate Warrior fans, and the  spirit of the Ultimate Warrior will live on FOREVER!”

All our prayers to his family and loved ones.
