Though it may seem a little ridiculous, the folks over at Sony/Columbia are dead set on making the Amazing Spider-Man franchise play out for as long as possible. They’ve even gone so far as to greenlight a third and fourth installment of the series before the second has been released. They also have a couple of other Spider-Man-based projects lined up in the form of a Venom movie and a Sinister Six movie. But when will all these films be releasing? Well, we have a little more info on that front. Scroll down to check it out.

So far, they have Amazing Spider-Man 3 lined up for release on May 27th of 2016. It was previously believed that a reserved release date of May 4th, 2018 was going to be the time for the fourth flick, but now it looks like they have plans to make that a day for the villains.

In a recent interview with Den of Geek, one of the TASM producers, Matt Tolmach, had this to say:

“Before we know what we do with Spider-Man 4, we’re going to do Sinister Six, Venom and Spider-Man 3. There is going to be a lot of crossover in those movies. So we’re just not at Spider-Man 4, because we still have a whole other Spider-Man movie and two other movies. So we don’t know yet what [Spider-Man 4] is going to be”

Of course, it only makes sense that they would try to insert their other planned ideas amidst the Amazing Spider-Man barrage. If they want to compete with the other super hero franchises, they’ll need to drop at least one flick a year. Of course, whether anyone goes to see those movies is another story.

So there you have it folks. Even more way-off-in-the-distance movie release date planning. Prepare yourself to wait. One of these days, they may even start production on some of these films.
