Ever heard of Maisie Richardson Sellers? If you haven’t that’s okay, because she has a smaller internet footprint than Rudiger Smoot. But the reason that the name Maisie Richardson Sellers has entered the proverbial ether is because her’s is the latest name associated with the casting of Star Wars Episode VII, a rumored frontrunner for a rumored role of rumored significance. So who might she be on the hook for portraying? Read on.
According to those ever omnipresent sources, Richardson Sellers was brought in to read for the part of a distant relative of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Cousin? Niece? Clone? Dog walker? Who knows? That same question could be posed of Richardson Sellers herself, who has mostly stage credits to her name and only one IMDb hit so far. Director J.J. Abrams has to be getting close to making some casting decisions if he’s working his way to the actors with only half a credit, and principal photography is starting soon. Many commentators are expecting major casting news to be announced on or around May the 4th, AKA: the Star Wars holiday. Frankly, it can’t come soon enough.
And is anyone else out there having some doubts about this? These reports of elaborate re-constructions of Tatooine for instance. Why do we keep going back to Tatooine? It’s a great big galaxy and we keep going back to the Azores of the universe?! (No offense to the Azores.) With Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and now Pater Mayhew coming back, is Episode VII going to be too dependent on what came before to plow any new ground for the franchise? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Star Wars Episode VII will be in theaters on December 18th, 2015.
