For those of you that ran to the bathroom, or to the fridge to grab another beer, when Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. went to commercial break last night, you might have missed this new television promo piece for James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s a nice little video with a message from each of the actors playing the main characters.

Let’s get right to it, here’s the clip:

Short, sweet, and a great way to link the actors face and celebrity to the character they’ll be playing. That’s gonna be important for those of us with better halves that aren’t really into all the comics and Sci-Fi stuff as much we are.

The best example is that when Bradley Cooper came on-screen in the clip, I suddenly heard, “Oh I like him, maybe I will go see this with you.”

Linking those actors like Cooper, whose star in Hollywood is flying high right now on the heels of his work in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, is a genius marketing move at this point.

Many a mother might be persuaded to take their kid to the movie, because Cooper is in it. I’m not gonna be responsible for those disappointed mothers after the movie because they never saw his face…or butt, but as a kid you do what ya gotta do to get to the movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy hits theater screens on August 1st, starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, and Benicio del Toro.
