He had a good run. Doc Ock as Spider-Man, I mean. Just in time for the release of the new Spider-Man movie, comes the all-new first issue of a comic also called The Amazing Spider-Man. The book, written by Dan Slott and drawn by Humberto Ramos, features Peter Parker back in the red and blue tights of your friendly neighborhood web-slinger, and ready for a new adventure, with brand new mystery that has a connection to the hero’s origins. Sounds serious. Want a preview of issue #1? You’ve got it.

The below preview, courtesy of Newsarama, features five pages from the book and a total of seven different covers, a variant cover for every day of the week! As for the story, Slott’s proved a highly capable Spider-writer, and certainly the Superior Spider-Man years have been an intriguing departure, but it should be fun to get some original recipe Spider-Man once again. You be the judge.

The Greatest Super Hero of All Time RETURNS! The world may have changed since Spidey’s been gone, but so has Peter Parker. This is a man with a second chance at life, and he’s not wasting a moment of it. Same Parker Luck, new Parker attitude. Putting the “friendly” back in the neighborhood, the “hero” back into “super hero,” and the “amazing” back into “Spider-Man!” Also returning: The recharged and reenergized ELECTRO!
