It seems like only yesterday that we first heard the news that the powers-that-be were putting together a live-action version of the old 80s cartoon, Jem and the Holograms. Apparently, they’re in full force with this one, as they’ve already got a cast lined up. Read on find out who will be filling these cartoon shoes on the big screen.
First and foremost is, naturally, the lead character of Jem. Actress Aubrey Peeples (Nashville) has signed on for this part.
As for her Holograms – We’ll be seeing Stefanie Scott (A.N.T. Farm) as Jem’s sister, Kimber; Aurora Perrineau (Pretty Little Liars) as Shana; and Hayley Kiyoko (The Fosters) as Aja.
And here’s a pic from the movie’s tumblr page that gives a little tease of what they’re going to look like:
There you have it folks. Love it or hate it, the cast is set and ready to go. In fact, it appears as if the movie is already in the filming phase. Talk about getting things done. Personally, I know nothing about any of these actresses, so I can’t say much about whether they’re the right choices or not.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, the live-action version of this old cartoon will follow the adventures of an orphaned teenage girl (Jem) who manages to make her name as on online recording sensation. With the help of her band, Jem sets out on a scavenger hunt through the streets of Los Angeles, seeking out the last message that her father left her.
Any Jem and the Holograms fans out there that want to weigh in on this?
