Yes, folks. Welcome to another installment in the glorious Nerd Bastards newsiness that is the Star Wars: Episode VII rumormill. This time around Deadline has a few tidbits for us and they’re saying that not only has actor Oscar Isaac been cast in some sort of significant role, but also that Harrison Ford will have a big part in the new flick. Read on for all the juicy details.
Oscar Isaac is perhaps best known for his role in Inside Llewyn Davis. There’s no word on exactly what role he be taking, only that it’s a big-un. So yeah… maybe we’ll see him in Episode VII. And maybe not.
The other bit of news is about Harrison Ford taking a big role. In fact, the rumormill says his role is “gigantic”. At least for the first flick. Beyond that, they’ll likely move the old cast into the background and let the new blood take over. But at least we’ll get to see Han Solo doing his thing (in age-induced slow-motion, no doubt) for a little while longer.
The rumormill also states that actors Adam Driver (Girls) and John Boyega (Attack the Block) as well as actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers (of no known renown) will all be showing up in some capacity. Again, just a bunch of rumors, so take them with a grain of salt.
One thing we do know is that J.J. Abrams has a big sit-down for a full-table read coming up very soon. So there will almost certainly be a big cast announcement. Finally, we will be able to put all the rumors to rest. At least the casting ones. The script rumors will likely go wild since people will have nothing else to speculate on.
