New Poster For Guillermo del Toro’s ‘The Strain’ is Stomach-Turning (Plus a New, Non-Gross Trailer!)
The FX Network is showing that they’ve got some serious gall when it comes to their original series. Not only does American Horror Story have some of the freakiest imagery on cable TV, Sons of Anarchy has pushed the limits of TV-MA with its sex and ultra-violence, while Louie has proven itself to be the most artistically minded sitcom ever created. Now comes The Strain, Guillermo del Toro’s vampire series. And if the latest poster and promo are to be believed, it’s going to fit in just fine with the rest of the network’s challenging line-up.
Today’s teaser is entitled “Body Bags”, and while it is lacking in actual footage from the show (there is none), it sells the tone quite well:
When you combine that tone with this poster, you have this summer’s must-see series for horror nuts:
That is filthy. I am so in. For those of you who don’t know, here’s the official synopsis for the series, which is co-Executive Produced by del Toro and Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel):
The Strain is a high concept thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
The Strain premieres the first of its thirteen episodes this July on FX.
