It’s being said that Smith’s character will have “a strong connection to John Connor,” and will be “a major role that will grow in the second and third films.” Of course, that’s only if Genesis launches another series of films, a promise made by both Rise of the Machines and Salvation, which came to not in the end.
Smith has plenty of experience fighting robots having taken on many of them during the course of three years playing The Doctor. Smith the actor has had a varied career beyond Doctor Who having appeared in series like Party Animals, The Street and Moses Jones, and in the films Womb and Bert & Dickie.
