In an interesting twist, SyFy is bringing a new series to television that won’t make fans start over and relive the entire source material. Instead of just rebooting the Legion movie and slapping it on TV, this time we’re propelled 25 years into the future in Dominion. Legion fans can stop writing fanfic and find out: (Use your best Paul Harvey voice here) “The rest of the story.”
It’s all out angel war on earth, and things haven’t been going well for the remaining humans. Even with archangel Michael on our side the world’s population is scattered and destroyed. The survivors band together to create fortified cities. One such city is Vega, built on the ashes of what was … you guessed it, Las Vegas.
Here’s the official synopsis and the first trailer and television teaser:
Dominion is an epic supernatural drama set in the near future. Specifically, 25 years after “The Extinction War,” when an army of lower angels, assembled by the archangel Gabriel, waged war against mankind. The archangel Michael, turning against his own kind, chose to side with humanity. Rising out of the ashes of this long battle are newly fortified cities which protect human survivors. At the center of the series is the city of Vega, a glistening empire that has formed from the ruins of what was once Las Vegas.
What do you think? I’m willing to give the series a try, what about you?
The series stars Luke Allen-Gale and although he has made some appearances in movie and television, this will be his first real “Carry the Load” role. He’s joined by Carl Beukes, Alan Dale, Christopher Egan, Chris Fisher, Shivani Ghai, Rosalind Halstead and Anthony Head.
Dominion makes its debut June 19th, 9/8c on the Syfy channel. There’s also a four issue mini series called Legion: Prophets being published by IDW Publishing you might want to check out.
