Last year we told you about Topher Grace‘s pet project in which he recut George Lucas‘ Star Wars Episodes I, II, and III into one movie. Grace’s version of the film was only shown to a select group and was never meant to be publicly shown. Well, some of those that saw the recut posted some of the story plot lines Grace cut. Now another enterprising fan has taken that blueprint and made their own recut, and we’ve got it here for you!
While Topher Grace‘s recut version was 85 minutes this one rounds out at two hours and 47 minutes. This recut takes out a lot of the nonsense like Jar-Jar and instead focuses on Anakin and Padme’s relationship and how it brings about his eventual turn to the dark side.
Double Digit, the maker of this recut put in this description on Vimeo:
A reimagining of the Star Wars prequel trilogy edited into a single compelling movie, based on the structure conceived by actor Topher Grace. As a critique of episodes 1-3, many large plot pieces have been removed or changed to strengthen the core relationship between Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala. More than 100 video and audio edits heighten the main character’s tragic fall from grace.
Check it out in the video below, I’ve got to warn you. It gets right into the action:
What did you think? Was this what should have happened?
