Earlier today we showed you the first picture tweeted out from the set of J.J. Abrams‘ Star Wars: Episode VII set. Now we’ve got some interesting casting talk that is making its way around the Internet today.
There are two young ladies from the U.K. that are getting serious consideration, or they’re just spending a great deal of time hanging around the Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, England. First up is Maisie Richardson-Sellers:
We’ve talked about her before, and now there’s a new name thrown into the Star Wars Casting Rumor-mill, Katie Jarvis.
Katie Jarvis is another relative newcomer to the acting business, best known for her role in Fish Tank. She held her own against Michael Fassbender in the film and critics and film goers alike gave her high marks for her portrayal of a “volatile and socially isolated 15-year-old” in East London. If you haven’t seen it, it’s well worth your time finding it.
What roles might they be playing? At this point I’m guessing that even J.J. Abrams only has a rough draft of an idea. If they are cast, they won’t play a major role in the first film, perhaps only making an appearance to set up a larger role in the following two films. This first film is going to be more of a reunion between the original cast and fans, that in turn hands off the Star Wars reins to the next generation.
I’m glad to see that there looks to be plenty of (Hopefully) strong female characters being brought into the franchise. Leia was always a favorite of mine and I hope to see more characters like her.
