We’ve finally got a full trailer for FX‘s new vampire horror series The Strain. That’s right, Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan‘s horror trilogy is coming to the small screen this summer. Can the series capture the thrill of the books?
The 13 episode first season premieres Sunday, July 13th at 10pm ET/PT. The official series synopsis from FX:
A thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
Hogan and del Toro are heavily involved in the series. As well as serving as executive producers, the pair co-wrote the pilot, which del Toro also directed. That should get the series off to a good start. Go ahead and check out the trailer and get your scary on.
What did you think? It looks like the series will stick close to the source material. I’ll be tuning in for this series. It will be refreshing to see some seriously creepy and dangerous vampires for a change.
I’ve had it up to here with the sparkly, suave, and romantic vampires we’ve had shoved down our throats the last ten years. It’s well past time for some bloody, violent, and never-ending-hunger vampires to take center stage.
