Lena Headey (a/k/a Cersei Lannister on HBO’s hit fantasy series Game of Thrones) is the queen of dropping spoiler hints via her Instagram account. That major death that just occurred this week? Yeah…she spoiled that TWO MONTHS AGO (with quite the cutesy little pic of Pedro Pascal). Now she’s at it again, blowing the spot of what I’m guessing to be the final shot of Season Four. Read on…if you dare.
Here’s how Headey foreshadowed the gruesome end of “The Red Viper”, Prince Oberyn Martell:
Now, diligent fans have figured out that she may have dropped another bomb, this time in a photo whose true meaning would probably be lost on non-book readers and casual fans alike:
Whoa. Is this confirmation that Lady Stoneheart (a/k/a Catlyn Stark) will indeed return this season? In George R.R. Martin’s novels, Lady Stark is brought back to life by Thoros of Myr in much the same way he continuously reanimates Lord Beric Dondarrion. However, Catlyn’s body is so long dead that in order to bring her back, Beric must give his own life so that she may rise. The undead Catlyn then takes over leadership of the Brotherhood Without Banners, re-naming herself Lady Stoneheart and swearing vengeance against those who had any part at all in the “Red Wedding”. It’s a particularly contentious plot point in Martin’s books, dividing fans almost straight down a hard line. Many have wondered, due to some of the chronological re-ordering the show has seen, when and if we’d see her appearance at all. But if Headey is our guide, then I’d have to guess that Lady Stoneheart’s first appearance will be as a cliffhanger in Season Four, promising fans an epic amount of bloodletting in future installments. Good thing we only have two more Episodes until we find out for sure!
