The last time that Robert Rodriguez did a sequel, well, let’s just say it, it sucked. Machete Kills seemed a bit underwhelming, but that’s not a word I think (I hope) that is going to be associated with Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. The action-packed – not to mention inferred-nudity-packed – trailer gives us a lot to chew on including snippets of actors featured in the original film like Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke, and Powers Boothe, and new cast members like Josh Brolin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and naturally (and au naturel) Eva Green. Are you hyped up enough now to see the trailer for yourself…
Then let’s lose control and let the monster out!
It looks impressive that’s for sure, the digital technology to bring the graphic novel to life has really come a long way since the first film in 2005. It’s also worth noting that the film’s stories, at least from the trailer, seem to have a lot more inter-connectivity in this one. I’ve never read the graphic novel, so maybe that’s part of the original book, but it certainly seems like there might be less of an anthology feel in the sequel. Here’s hoping for a late summer home run from Rodriguez and co-director Frank Miller.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For opens in theaters on August 22.
