Those of us wondering how human civilization crumbled so quickly between the first film, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the upcoming sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes can now watch a recently released 20th Century Fox video that bridges the gap between the two films.
It’s a frightening look at what could happen if a new super virus rapidly struck the world’s population. Makes one wonder if all those apocalyptic preparers might just have the right idea. Check out the video and then let’s discuss it.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Did you get chills watching that? I don’t think it would have taken as long as the video says for society to break down. Once the population tips toward the sick and dead, things would slide down hill very quickly. At that point it’s probably best to accept it and welcome our new Ape Overlords.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theater screens July 11th with Matt Reeves directing and starring Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer.
Will your butt be in a theater seat that opening weekend?
