Word around the Internet today is that Warner Bros has a reboot plan for everyone’s favorite crime solving hound Scooby Doo. That means we’ll soon be seeing  whole new gang of pesky teens solving mysteries and unmasking old guys in a new live action movie.

While it saddens this Scooby Doo fan that the news comes so close the death of the original voice of Shaggy, Casey Kasem, it will be nice to see the old gang back on the big screen. The improvement in digital effects since the last movie, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed ten years ago should help bring that big, lovable dog to life all that much the better.

Warner Bros has chosen Randall Green to write the script. Wait, don’t run off and try to pull up his IMDB page. There isn’t one. In fact, I haven’t found anyone who knows who he is or what he’s written before. Bringing a newcomer in to draft the first script shouldn’t alarm us too much. Warner Bros is sure to run that script through a number of better known writers before they reach a finished version.

What do you think Scooby and the gang should tackle next: Cthulhu, Haunted Roller Coaster, Alien Invasion of body snatchers, or just go ahead and fuse Scooby-Doo with 24 and have them hunt terrorists? Don’t worry, I doubt we’re going to get the dark and gritty Scooby-Doo reboot that all the other reboots seem to be trending towards these days.

With no casting or announced director attached to the project we can speculate to our hearts content. Will past Scooby-Doo director Raji Gosnell return to direct another, or is he too busy with all the Smurfs movies he’s been cranking out lately?

Remember, James Gunn wrote the first Scooby-Doo live action movie, could he return to direct the reboot now that he has Guardians of the Galaxy in his directing resume? I would be down for a James Gunn Scooby-Doo.

Who would you cast in the lead roles of the film?
