If you weren’t pumped up already for the release of director Matt Reeves Dawn of the Planet of the Apes before, this trailer will do the trick. There’s a lot to see, click-through and check it out!
Let’s get right to the final official trailer:
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Now that was an exciting trailer that managed to push all my Planet of the Apes fan-boy buttons. We finally hear an ape (Koba), speak that isn’t Caesar. The special effects, incredibly seamless and lifelike, and are sure to drag us, even those of us that were brought to the theater kicking and screaming, into this world of intelligent apes.
This movie, like the original set of Planet of the Apes movies and its predecessor Rise of the Planet of the Apes, does have a lot to say about the world of its time. Individuals and small groups with ingrained hates commit targeted acts of violence against those they hate while the rest of us try to find some kind of understanding, trying to bring peace to the world. All the while wondering how someone commit those horrific acts in the first place. It’s all right there to see if one is willing to look.
Written by Amanda Silver, Mark Bomback, Rick Jaffa, Scott Burns and directed by Matt Reeves, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes stars Andy Serkis, Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke, Judy Greer, Keri Russell, and Kirk Acevedo.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theater screens July 11th.
