All major-league film productions run the risk of being forced to face down some big problems and no matter how iconic the Star Wars franchise may be, it is no exception to this rule. The problem in question is, of course, the fact that Harrison Ford broke his leg last week. And rather than hobble about as Han “The Gimp” Solo, the rumormill is saying that production on the film is going to be delayed. Read on for all the maybe truths and sorta facts on the situation.
According to Jedi News (the source of the rumor), shooting on Star Wars: Episode VII is likely to be pushed back due to the Ford’s injury. A broken leg is no small matter and the actor is going to have to spend a significant amount of time off of his feet in order to get better. Then again, there’s also the chance that J.J. Abrams will be able to switch the shooting schedule around and try to get some non-Solo stuff done while Ford is laid-up.
The big question is, naturally, whether or not the release date for Episode VII will be delayed. Sources are saying that everything is still on track, though this could change if Ford’s leg doesn’t heal up fast enough. Then again, there’s still plenty of time between now and December of 2016, so Disney still has a fair bit of wiggle room to play with.
All-in-all, there won’t likely be any problems here, aside from a few less set leaks and rumored spoilers for the next month or two. And I can’t think of too many fans that will be enraged if Episode VII is delayed so that they can get the proper amount of Han Solo time in there.
