Your Daily Dose of ‘Batman VS Superman’ Rumors: Wonder Woman’s Costume, the Batcave, & Lex Luther’s Motivation
Once more into the breach dear friends, once more! That’s right, we’ve got more Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice rumors that run the gambit from Wonder Woman’s costume, to the Bat Cave and all those wonderful Bat-Goodies Batman uses finally ending with Lex Luther’s motivation for the movie. Potential spoilers ahead, click-through at your own risk!
The JoBlo Network has a pretty good track record on picking up inside information and now they’re claiming to have a Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice inside source that’s willing to talk about some of the film’s details. Take a look at the video below and then let’s discuss it on the other side.
Let’s break it down starting with Wonder Woman’s (Gal Gadot) costume. Earlier reports had Wonder Woman wearing the comic book version of the outfit before 52 shook up the DC Universe. It includes a jacket and leggings like the statue pictured below.
Those rumors are said by JoBlo’s source to be inaccurate. This time around Wonder Woman will be wearing:
The description of the outfit from our source uses the term “badass” on multiple occasions. This Wonder Woman is ripped right from the comics and has a “traditional, yet sleeker” costume that’s “battle ready.” She’ll have a blue leather skirt, silver-armored cuffs that reach to her elbows, golden tiara (with a design of some sort in the center, possibly the red star) and a variation of the traditional-looking red top (no word on additional armor on it). Her overall appearance is described as “Amazon warrior princess” and definitely not an urban re-imagining.Wonder Woman will have no less than FOUR weapons, including shield, sword, spear, and of course, the traditional lasso. It’s also noted that she will wear the shield on her back, Captain America style, when not in use.
Word is that WB is getting a VERY positive response on her appearance to those they’ve shown it to
That would be a terrific look for Wonder Woman, and here’s some examples to help you put that costume image together in your head:
Lastly, what about Wonder Woman’s screen time in Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice?
Her character will be introduced as “Diana” in the film initially before we ever see her as Wonder Woman. She will have a fair amount of screen time and will team up with Batman and Superman for the final battle against an un-named villain who may be working or controlled by Lex Luther. Her origin will be intentionally vague, but she is brought into the fold to show that there are other superheroes in the universe other than Superman.
That does open the opportunity to finally do a solo Wonder Woman origin story, perhaps even set in World War II like the first Captain America movie. I’ve often thought Wonder Woman should be introduced with that war story as a background. She could help the fight then return to her island, not to be seen until the Man of Steel makes his big splash to the world.
Moving on we have some potential details about the Bat-Cave.
Batman is said to be a veteran crime fighter that will do anything it takes to get the job done. Superman is a rule follower, so they often don’t see eye to eye, which is a consistent dynamic with their initial relationship. As for Batman’s usual digs; Wayne Manor is there, but Bruce Wayne chooses to live on the property in a modern-looking cottage by a lake (not a van down by the river, though). Underneath the cottage is a modernized Batcave, which houses a Batwing, along with his other gear (Batmobile, batarangs, etc.).
We kinda expected to get to see the Bat-Cave at some point in the movie, but will we see Superman (Henry Cavill) in the Bat-Cave?
That would be a cool scene to see on the big screen, not really the fighting pictured above, but seeing Superman and Batman (Ben Affleck) interact and talk shop so to speak. Perhaps Superman’s visit might even spark the idea he should build his own place to get away from it all, a Fortress of Solitude one could call it.
Last but not least there’s the movie’s villain, or the man behind the villain, Lex Luther (Jesse Eisenberg) . What are his motivations in the film?
Lex Luther (who is rumored to have longish red hair at the beginning of the film) thinks he is god’s gift to humanity and the best that humanity has to offer, which leads to his hatred of Superman. Because Superman is basically a “god” it makes Lex feel less than perfect. Lex tries to sway people to dislike and fear Superman – and many people ARE swayed. Some see Superman as a hero, while others see him as the ultimate threat.
So Luther might lose his hair during the movie. That will excite the bunch of fans that flamed the Internet when word was that Luther had a full head of hair. Using Luther’s super-ego as his motivation in this movie works for me and sets him up to gather other villains for a later confrontation with… dare I say it? The Justice League. What could he call his group of evil-doers…hmm…let me think… Legion of Doom sounds good.
What do you think?
