There’s a lot of new information, pictures, and videos popping up around the Internet for Warner Brothers and ‘DC Comics‘ new FOX television series Gotham. We’ve scoured the Internet, shined the brightest lights into the Internet’s cobwebbed and shadowy corners to bring you them all right here. Seriously, it took me at least ten minutes worth of finger pounding keyboard Goggling.
Let’s start with two new videos for Gotham. The first gives us a look at young Bruce Wayne’s (David Mazouz) grief at the scene of the crime. This trailer nicely sets up the series tone and what we might expect to see.
The second has a short interview with show-runner Bruno Heller and gives us a few new scene cuts to check out. Jada Pinkett Smith‘s Fish Mooney character shows that she’s not above getting right in the middle of a fight.
Next up is the announcement of the screening of Gotham’s pilot at SDCC 2014, here’s that section of the recent Warner Brothers press release:
On Saturday night, July 26th, it’s all DC Entertainment all night in Hall H when Warner Bros. Television treats attendees to a three-hour special event designed specifically for DC Comics fans and featuring some of DC Comics’ greatest characters. The event will run from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and will feature the world premiere public screening of the highly anticipated new drama series “Gotham” (the only screening of “Gotham” at this year’s Comic-Con), followed by a screening of the complete pilot of “The Flash,” and exclusive video presentations from returning hit “Arrow” and new thriller “Constantine.” Cast members and producers from all four shows will make special appearances throughout the three-hour event.
BleedingCool‘s Rich Johnston was able to score a viewing of the pilot from an un-named source along with screen captures that we haven’t seen before. Johnston goes on to compare this pilot to some other comic book television series he’s seen:
So first things first. It’s better than Flash. And Constantine. And Arrow. And Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. It’s the best TV pilot based on an English language comic book I’ve seen. I’m serious, and so is this show. This is not a place for humour.
That’s a pretty bold statement, but from what I’ve seen so far, he might just be right. Take a look through them and let us know if you pick anything interesting out. Pay close attention to the last picture, it’s Jon Beavers who is listed In Gotham‘s IMDB as Comedian performing at Fish Mooney’s place. Is that the series code word for the Joker?
You’ve got to admit that jacket is kinda Joker-like in fabric pattern. We’ve also get a couple of looks at Renee Montoya (Victoria Cartagena) and Crispus Allen (Andrew Stewart-Jones) from Gotham’s Major Crimes Unit.
The character I am really looking forward to seeing is Detective Harvey Bullock played by Donal Louge. His recent work on Sons of Anarchy and Vikings was incredible. I can see him getting a best supporting actor for this role if he brings that same intensity and talent. I get the feeling he might steal the show.
That SDCC panel will be hard to get into. I’m sure there will be people camping out and sitting through panels all day just to keep that seat until the 8PM DC Comics panel begins. I would expect that the pilot might leak onto the Internet after that SDCC panel showing, not from someone recording it during the panel, but from another source. There’s almost two months from that panel until the Monday night premiere on September 22nd, I doubt we’ll make it through that time without a Pilot leak.
