On the heels of all the recent teasers, BBC has released a full length trailer for the highly anticipated Season 8 of Doctor Who, starring Peter Capalidi as the 12th regeneration of the Doctor. Aired during the world cup, with a good portion of the world watching (albeit hundreds of thousands of American’s who missed it as they could not care less about Soccer), the new season of Doctor Who is promising excitement, adventure and all that good stuff we know and and love, but it also has a  sense of intensity and uneasiness the likes we’ve never seen before.

New Doctor, New Monsters and Old Enemies…The new series of Doctor Who begins Saturday, 23 August. Check out the trailer below:

Did you catch all that? Daleks, a Tyrannosaurus Rex in London, steampunk cyborg guy, The Doctor on a horse, SPLOSIONS and more? That was a barrage of exciting imagery to say the least. It certainly had my curiosity and attention.

Trailer left me feeling we’re in store for darker, more mature, and possibly more bad-ass iteration of the Doctor yet.

I’m liking the tone that this sets – a man ruminating on the nature of his sins, calling himself into question. Will he truly be a more introspective Doctor?

I just hoping the show delivers on darker, more mysterious Doctor. While I loved Matt Smith, Moffat kept writing insane stories that were fun but got old. The last season was rough, having much frivolity. Capaldi, however, certainly has me sold. This man can do more with his eyes in 30 seconds that most can do with a 30 minute monologue. In the end, I just want the writing to be good again.

A brand-new era of Doctor Who begins as the Time Lord dons a new look. Peter Capaldi said of his Doctor: “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.”  While lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat added: “New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!” The upcoming season also stars Jenna Coleman (Death Comes to Pemberley) as companion Clara.
