The-Avengers-group-shot

It’s been raining Avengers: Age of Ultron news this week! Following up on the release of it’s Avengers cover, including the first ever look at Ultron himself, earlier today, Entertainment Weekly has released a further eight photographs featuring stills from the film and behind the scenes glimpses at the production. Below you will see nothing terribly spoilery, just some Avengers in action, a couple of new frenemies and a surprise guest. Let’s take a look at your first official set of production photos from the Avengers sequel.

Here’s the pics from EW (via Comic Book Movie):

Suit up! And it’s all carefully labelled because, you know, the Avengers might forget which outfit is theirs.

avengers2

I wouldn’t want to be the guy that Cap (Chris Evans) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) are looking at right now.

avengers3

Joss Whedon directs Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) while Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) summons the spirits or something.

The twin miracles, Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and the Scarlet Witch obviously in the middle of some action.

Science Bros. Unite! Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) are cooking up something sciencey.

Looks like the other Scarlet, Black Widow played Scarlett Johansson, is back in action with not just a new outfit, but another new hairdo as well.

Bombardment! Hawkeye’s having a bad day.

Wait a minute, is that War Machine/Iron Patriot James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle)?! Apparently, Rhodey will make the VIP section of the much discussed post-battle party at Avengers Tower.

Speaking of Avengers Tower, Avengers producer Kevin Feige talked about the new headquarters of Earth’s mightiest heroes, and what type of changes were undertaken by Tony Stark to his New York operation between the close of the first movie and the start of the second.

“Last time we saw Stark Tower, from The Avengers, it had gotten beat up a little bit thanks to Hulk and thanks to Loki and the Chituari, and Pepper and Tony were standing over a table looking at plans,” explained Feige to IGN (through Comic Book Movie. “That’s where we pulled out and all the letters had fallen away except the ‘A’ in Stark. So what they were doing was retro-fitting for The Avengers. And that’s what we see in this next film.

“S.H.I.E.L.D. is gone – for people who are following along. S.H.I.E.L.D. was disbanded and brought down at the end of The Winter Soldier because it turned out to not be the best organization ever,” he continued. “So Tony’s bank-rolling The Avengers now. And he’s bank-rolling their headquarters. So it’s now Avengers Tower.”

Keige described Avengers Tower further confirming much of what’s already been revealed about the new setting. “Tony designed it so in addition to a hanger for a brand-new Quinjet, laboratories, places where he can build and store his Iron Man suits, there are I believe two bars,” he said. “Beautiful multiple space living rooms which are perfect for parties and social gatherings. But it’s a primary location in the film this time around.”

The producer also responsed to the recent footage of Age of Ultron screened in London, particularly the Hulk Vs Iron Man in Hulkbuster armor battle. According to Feige, this was one of a number of sequences that sold him and Marvel on Whedon’s vision for the sequel.

“There are a lot of scenes that you should be getting excited about. That is certainly one of them,” Feige said. “I think I said a long time ago when Joss first did his six-page or 10-page outline for Avengers, there was a lot of work and the movie’s adapted quite a bit since then, but there were like six or seven signature things just in that. I said ‘Joss, even if we don’t do anything else. Just do these seven things, that’s enough for the movie. Now let’s get to work and put it all together.’ Those things are in the movie and are amazing, of which that sequence is one.”

Look for more information and details about Avengers: Age of Ultron to come next week during San Diego Comic Con. The film itself will be in theaters May 1, 2015.
