The Paramount Pictures panel at SDCC14 yesterday had a lot of attention focused on the appearances of Interstellar‘s Christopher Nolan and Matthew McConaughey. Some folks might have missed Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob sharing a first look at the latest SpongeBob movie, SpongeBob: Sponge Out of Water. What makes it interesting is that the movie will feature live action scenes of the characters as they interact with the surface world. Here’s the image Kenny premiered to panel attendees:
Those look incredible. How the hell does Patrick have abs? Word around the panel was that we could expect to see the first trailer soon. This looks like a great movie to take your kids to, or just grab the guys, down a couple of six-packs, and trip out to the big screen antics of SpongeBob and company.
We’ve already seen the first “Coppertone Sunscreen” homage movie poster with SpongeBob below. You can expect a few more versions of the movie’s poster to hit the Internet as the film’s promotion kicks into high gear.
We haven’t gotten our hands on the footage that was shown at the panel yet, but we can say that people who were there described it as weird and crazy. We’ll bring it to you here when it pops up on the Internet.
Are you interested in seeing SpongeBob and company on dry land? The mix of live action and CGI that is SpongeBob: Sponge Out of Water, hits theater screens February 13th, 2015.
