Firefly, Joss Whedon‘s show that would not die, made the move from the small screen of television to the big screen of Hollywood years after its untimely cancellation. Now the show makes another jump back into the computer game monitors of online video game players everywhere. That’s right, Firefly is getting an online video game, but that’s not the big news. The big news is that the ENTIRE cast is returning to voice their characters!
I09 is reporting that:
All of the original Firefly stars will reprise their characters for the online game! And Alan Tudyk is playing multiple roles. Also showing up will be Michael Fairman as the crime lord Niska, who is apparently hiring.
The magic of voice work is that it’s easy to work around the actor’s schedule and can be done quickly, in just about any studio, anywhere. Check out the video game play below and you’ll notice more than one cast member contributing. I’d tell you to click this link to the game website, but since this news broke the other day, the site hasn’t been able to handle all the traffic.
Take a look and then let’s discuss what we saw.
I have to say I got goosebumps when Shepard’s (Ron Glass) voice speak those first words, “If I were a captain.” By the end I was giddy with Browncoat fever when My Captain, My Captain, Nathan Fillion spoke those misbehaving words. OH Captain Tight-pants, how we love you.
Now as long as the game is playable, and packed with Firefly verse goodies, Browncoats across the world will be logging in to get their Firefly fix.
