For many movie fans, especially when it comes to comic book movies, part of the fun in watching the films is searching for those Easter Eggs that are generally sprinkled from beginning to end. For the uninitiated, “Easter Eggs” refer to the hidden winks that movie makers put into movies as a way of tipping their hat to quick-eyed viewers. Remember how Captain America’s shield made a brief appearance in the first Iron Man movie back in 2008?:

Captain America 1

That is an Easter Egg! OK, now that everyone is on the same page, Marvel is the reigning king of the Easter Egg and has made sure to give a nod to their longtime fans in each one of their movies.   Guardians of the Galaxy opened this weekend and it was chock full of those great nods.  If you missed them, maybe you should give Guardians another viewing. If you would rather have the treats laid out on front of you, Mr. Sunday Movies has put together a very comprehensive (and spoiler heavy) video, detailing each of the Easter Eggs in Marvel’s sci-fi adventure.

Some of the more interesting Easter Eggs sprinkled through the movie include:

Warlock

Adam Warlock – We have seen Warlock’s cocoon in two separate Marvel movies at this point, is it that far of a stretch to imagine he will have a bigger part in the MCU soon?

Beta Ray

Beta Ray Bill – One of the individuals who has wielded Thor’s Mjolnir, Beta Ray Bill is one of the Easter Eggs that some will see while others simply will the egg into being.  In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, viewers are reporting that Beta Ray is in one of the glass cases in The Collector’s, um, collection.

Slugs

Slither Slug – This one is a tip of the hat to one of Gunn’s other great movies, Slither.

Howard

Howard the Duck – Easily the Easter Egg that got the most people excited, Howard appears in one of The Collector’s cases as well as showing up in the after credits scene.  While Gunn swears that it was all in good fun and will not lead anywhere, fans of Howard are all hoping that we will see our favorite foul-mouthed fowl show up in the future.

How many of these did you catch while watching the movie? Don’t feel badly if you only caught a few, after all, they are called Easter Eggs for a reason!  Which of these little secrets was your favorite?  Were there other Easter Eggs that Mr. Sunday Movies (or we, for that matter) may have missed? Let us know in the comments below!
