Every day, the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at

The Fifth Element is still one of the best and most original sci-fi films ever (and one that’s remained untainted from unnecessary sequels and attempts at turning the film into a franchise). One of its most memorable sequences happens while French actress Maïwenn Besco’s performs “Il Dolce Suono” and it’s intercut with Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich kick ass. Here you can watch the full scene of Besco, who is lip synching to Albanian opera lyric soprano Inva Mula’s performance. [io9]

Making a smooth, R&B version of some classic tune seems to be all the rage right now. Not to be left out, Scott Bradlee and the PostModern Jukebox have created their own smooth jazz and R&B twists on classic themes like Disney’s Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck, Chip & Dale’s Rescue Rangers, and The Muppet Babies. The Legend of Zelda is racist, okay! I mean, come on, Dark Link. Yeah… I see what you’re doing Nintendo, propagating stereotypes. [The Warp Zone]
