Every day, the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at email@example.com.
ABOVE: Cosplay makeup artist Roxy Lee showed off some of her favorite looks on Geek Girls, like Mad Moxxi featured above. Her Zipper Face is my favorite, but I didn’t want to gross you guys out in the feature image. So make sure you check it out.
Oh my goodness! Etsy seller MasenkoProps made a replica of dancing baby Groot. It even sits inside a tiny plant pot! Unfortunately, baby Groot has been sold, but hopefully the seller will hear the cry of nerds everywhere and make more.
GameInformer says that this Pikachu samurai armor is not intimidating. I wholeheartedly disagree. I realize that I am completely alone in this, but I’ve always found Pikachu freaking terrifying. I don’t know what it is about the little guy, but he creeps me out. Those Pikachus that we featured yesterday invading Japan? NOPE. I’m sure most of you will find Andihandro’s creation adorable. I, however, am going to have to sleep with the lights on.
On September 15th, Monopoly is getting the Zelda treatment. The limited edition board game comes with 5 tokens, but the exclusive GameStop version also has an Ocarina of Time token. The GameStop version has some other special features, as well, like special power cards. You can get details about the GameStop exclusives on NintendoLife. [Geekologie]
Someone needs to cosplay as Thor cosplaying as a Disney princess. I need this now. [Geeks Are Sexy]
Let this collection of canned goods stand as evidence that food was better in the 90s. I’m not sure you’d want to eat any of this food if it’s been around for two decades. I know canned goods last a long time, but I wouldn’t risk it. [That’s Nerdalicious via Reddit]
Oh my glob this is adorable! When ReallyLovely saw this antique chair she knew it was crying out for an Adventure Time makeover. Finn makes up the body of the chair (his socks are made with glow in the dark paint, btw) and Jake, as the cushion, is curled up on his best friend’s lap. Aw. [Neatorama via Geek Crafts]
Target is already taking pre-orders for the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes DVD. There’s no release date yet for the pre-order, but you will get this nifty and exclusive gorilla soldier action figure! [Toy News International]
This Mario vs. Pokemon video, celebrating Gameboy’s 25th anniversary (oh my god I’m old), proves my previous point that Pikachu is one scary dude. I’m also scared of Mario now, too. [Geeks Are Sexy]
This is a story about Russian space geckos having sex. How could I not share it with all of you? [Geeks Are Sexy]
