If you’re coming down from the high of Guardians of the Galaxy, but are looking for new Marvel Studios something, then here you go. Captain America: The Winter Soldier will arrive on home video in just over a month, and if you want a reason aside from the obvious to buy the disc when it comes out, maybe the following videos will sweeten the deal. Now like a lot of deleted scenes, we’re not shown anything substantive or necessary to the story, but they do also offer some insight into how the film shook out in the editing room. Plus, we’re all completest obsessive compulsive types here, am I right?

In the first deleted scene, Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) meets up with our old friend Jasper Sitwell (Maximiliano Hernández), and their conversation isn’t as cordial as it might have been if we saw the two of them talk to each other on the Helicarrier during The Avengers. It probably didn’t make the cut because it spoils the revelation later on that Sitwell is HYDRA, and the added Hill kind of takes some of the juice out her surprise rescue of the heroes later on (because you just know that she ain’t headin’ back to New York under Sitwell’s orders). Let’s roll the clip:

And in the second deleted scene, we learn how Captain America ditched his S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform! I know it’s hardly exciting, but if this dangling plot thread, the mystery of what happened to Cap’s new duds, left you scratching your head as you left the movie theater, wonder no more!

Well, those cuts don’t exactly make or break the movie, but it’s always interesting to see what ends up on the proverbial cutting room floor. I expect there will be plenty more scenes like that, either released in advanced like these ones or left to be a surprise on the Blu-ray disc. Sadly, the extra we all want, another Marvel One-Shot short film, will not be included with The Winter Soldier. There’s no word yet on whether or not another short will be made and released for the Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-ray.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is available on DVD, Blu-ray and VOD September 9.
