Nerdy Bits: Hulkbuster Cosplay, Star Wars Princesses, How Super Heroes Eat, Dancing Groot and MOAR!!!
Every day, the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
ABOVE: Carry these Picard facepalm cookies from Just Jenn Recipes with you everywhere you go. When someone does something really stupid, hand them a cookie. They’ll think you’re being sweet, when in reality you’re not-so-silently judging them. [Technabob]
A Welcome to Nightvale cosplay isn’t something you see everyday. Geek girl blogger Delores used her imagination and love of the podcast to create this Eternal Scout cosplay. I wonder what her version of the Dreadnaught Scout would look like? Don’t forget to check out her blog, she gives a tutorial on how she pulled this look together.
Wow. Is there really any other way to describe this? I suppose you could throw in a couple of expletives before the “wow,” but that still wouldn’t encompass how awesome Pablo Bairan’s Hulkbuster Iron Man cosplay is. In case you need more stuff to drool over, check out his Facebook page for his other cosplays, including Optimus Prime. [Fashionably Geek]
Now your clothes can boldly go where no clothes have gone before! (One of these days, I’ll think of more original puns.) Demostheness (great name) posted this DIY Star Trek dresser on Imgur. It mixes the colors and insignia of TOS with a TNG font. I really want this, except I don’t want the red drawer, then all of my clothes will die. [Geek Crafts]
The child in me is having a serious nostalgia freak-out right now. This isn’t just a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles party wagon, oh no, it’s also a functioning NES! Hop on over to Geeks Are Sexy for more details and pizza (okay, there’s not pizza, but you can eat pizza while you read about it).
Parenting done right. [ThinkGeek]
If you haven’t heard of St. Jude’s Play Live fundraiser, here’s the gist: It’s sort of like typical marathon/race fundraisers except people donate to St. Jude and you play video games (via Twitch) instead of run/walk. I typically wouldn’t mention it here, except that Robin Williams‘ daughter Zelda is fundraising. I doubt we’ll see her stream any time soon, but since I know that all of us were deeply affected by the passing of her father, and this charity was important to him, I wanted to share the link to her fundraising page. You can donate to her page here or sign up for your own page here. Fundraising ends September 1.
Arya Stark and other teens react to Saved by the Bell. Some of these kids seem pretty cool… but a few of them make me worried for our future – not Maisie of course, Maisie is awesome and I’m not just saying that so she won’t put me on Arya’s kill list. [TheFineBros]
Watching Deadpool eat lettuce is perhaps the funniest thing you will see all day, until you see him imitate how Groot eats lettuce.
For geek girls Anya and Stella, the search for female superhero action figures is thwarted by companies who want to crush their adorable nerdy dreams. And my nerdy dreams, because I also want a Gamora toy, damn it. [Women You Should Know]
With no official dancing Baby Groot yet on the way, someone has gone the DIY route and just made their own, to rather great effect. I like how with Cap TWS we got the ‘Hail Hydra’ memes, and with GOTG we got Dancing Groot. [CBM]
And now, T-shirts you gotta buy today before they’re gone!
