Since earlier today I seem to have spoiled a Guardians of the Galaxy surprise with the Howard the Duck Post for those of you that just came out of a two-week coma, those returning from a couple of weeks in solitary for shanking their cellmate with a sharpen spoon handle, and that one guy that bought and drank a colossally large Diet Coke and although he gave it a valiant effort had to go pee right at the end of the movie and thus missed this GOTG scene, I am posting a spoiler alert right here, before the page break.

Now that any spoiler concerns are out of the way. Let’s take another look at one of my favorite scenes from GOTG, Dancin’ Baby Twig Groot! We’ve also embedded a great Groot GIF you can grab!

Yahoo Movies talked with Gunn about the scene:

It was initially written as a tag for the very end of the film, but after we shot it, it worked so well I wanted to put it at the actual end of the film so none of the audience would miss it. ‘I Want You Back’ is my favorite pop song ever.

You might be thinking that Vin Diesel, who provided Groots voice for every I AM GROOT line from the film, you’d be wrong. Baby Twig Groot’s moves come from none other than James Gunn himself.

Baby Groot dancing is 100 percent me, I was too embarrassed for anyone to be there, so I made everyone leave the room and I set up a camera and I videotaped myself dancing. Then I sent the video to the animators and had them animate over that. I begged them not to leak the video! Two of my closest friends came to an early screening and said ‘Hey, I recognize those moves! That’s you dancing isn’t it?!’

Did Gunn think Dancin’ Groot would be so popular?

I knew he made me happy as hell when I first saw how he was animated. He’s adorable.

I’ve already seen a couple of people starting to make Dancin’ Groot costumes for their next cosplay. The kid that wears that for Halloween this year is getting the ENTIRE bowl of candy when he or she comes to my door! If you want to make your own desktop Dancin’ Groot check out the Tutorials below.

Durandal Cosplay posted his method of making a Dancin’ Groot on his facebook page, we’ve gathered it all here with his instructions for those of you interested in making your own.

For those of you that might want to put one in your garden here’s a great way brought to us from Well its my shop tumbler.
