As we reported yesterday, production has begun on Marvel Studios‘ twelfth feature Ant-Man. The Peyton Reed-directed flick has been in development since long before there was a Marvel Studios, but now it’s finally becoming a reality, adding an important and historic piece of comic book lore to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. By now you’re saying, “Quit stalling! Get to the picture!” Okay, calm down. Without further ado, let’s take a look – and it’s okay because its not-spoilery – at Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, AKA: Ant-Man!

Hm. Looks like Scott Lang is about to enter a rap battle so that he can get out of that trailer park and leave his white trash mother in the dust. The piercings are a nice touch, but I wonder at what in the movie this comes in at, before or after Lang meets Hank Pym and discovers the power of Pym Particles and shrinking one’s self to bug-size? San Francisco (that’s the Golden Gate Bridge in the background if your landmark illiterate) is one of the locations in the film. Production has started there, but will eventually move to Atlanta, GA, where the majority of the film will be shot.
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
Ant-Man will be in theaters everywhere next summer, on July 17, 2015.
