Long before Tim Story brought his mediocre vision of The Fantastic Four to the big screen, there was a man with a different sort of vision. That man is Roger Corman and he had, back in 1994, designs to produce his own Fantastic Four movie. That movie was eventually scraped and put into a dark warehouse somewhere to be forgotten, but the fascination with it continues to this very day. Hence the arrival of a documentary called DOOMED! The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s The Fantastic Four. Now you can check out a 3 ½ minute sneak peek of this documentary below.

First and foremost, here’s the sales pitch for DOOMED! Read on to learn more about why you might want to watch it or just scroll past the hurty words to find the happy joyful video.

There are 336 names in the end crawl credits of the 1994 film, ‘The Fantastic Four’. And though owners of the bootleg version of the film may appreciate them, the artists and craftspeople that created the movie have never been properly recognized.

And that’s too bad.

‘The Fantastic Four’ has never been viewed legally by anyone in the world, other than those directly involved in the production. The negative presumably sits, to this day, on some shelf in some facility, both gathering dust and fated to become it.

So – what are we going to do about that?

For starters, we have interview commitments from EVERY principal cast and crew member. And based on the pre-interviews we’ve conducted, this documentary is going to be explosive!

-When did the cast and crew discover the film would be shelved?

-What changed from script to production based on character rights (just who *is* The Jeweler?), budget, and time constraints?

-How much control did Marvel wield over the movie? Before it was made and after it was shelved?

-Is a legitimate release still possible?

-Who are today’s A-list actors who auditioned but didn’t make the cut?

For the first time in over 20 years, the TRUE account of this controversial cult classic will be revealed!

And it’s a hell of a story.

And here’s that video I’ve been talking about:

Directed by Marty Langford, DOOMED! promises to delve as deep as possible into the production of the never-to-be FF flick, touching on the heart and soul of the movie via the cast and crew. We’ll also get a look at the shittier side of Hollywood, that being the folks at the top of the studio pyramid that duped everyone into making a low-budget movie so that they could maintain a hold on the Fantastic Four movie rights.

If you want to see the Fantastic Four movie itself, you’ll have to search long and hard. Or maybe just make a short trip over to The Pirate Bay and illegally download it. Not that I’m condoning that sort of behavior, of course. But I’m just saying, you can find quite a few torrents of it over there. I’m gonna shut up now before I get arrested.

As for DOOMED! The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s The Fantastic Four, there’s no official word on when the documentary will be released for all to see. It’s expected to make the film festival circuit pretty soon, so keep an eye out and you may see it pop up somewhere in your town. A definite must-watch for comic book movie fans.
