Stephen Amell took to the Twitter-verse to announce the latest casting for the CW‘s Arrow. Former professional Rugby player and Australian actor Matt Nable will join the cast and lead the League of Assassins as Ra’s al Ghul. What mischief might Ra’s al Ghul bring to Star City? Here’s the tweet that announced the casting:

Most people will recognize Matt Nable from his role as Boss Johns in Riddick. The leader of the second group of bounty hunters that tried to capture or kill Riddick.
Arrow has been setting up the existence of Ra’s al Ghul since the show started, but really laid the ground work for his appearance in Star City beginning last season. Ghul has a past bone to pick with Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) who has been bumped up to a series regular. Since Merlyn turned out to be the biological father of Oliver’s sister Thea (Willa Holland) and when last seen left the city with Merlyn, there’s a good chance that Ghul will track them both down.
In the trailer below we see Thea training with Merlyn so I imagine that Ra’s al Ghul might try to grab Thea as a lever to use against Merlyn. Throw in Sara Lance’s (Caity Lotz) connection to the League of Assassins and her ties to Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law) and there looks to be a lot of LOA story lines to explore in this upcoming season of Arrow that should dovetail into a big all out fight.
Word is that Ghul will make his first on-screen appearance in the fourth episode that airs October 29th. Arrow returns to the small screen October 8th. Have you got your DVR set?
