Yesterday we got the above image straight from Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder. A fantastic look at the new Batmobile, or the Fantastic Fleckmobile, as I’ll now be calling it. Although I expected to see some video of the vehicle in action at some point, I never suspected it would be the very next day. That’s right, video has surfaced showing the Batmobile rolling through its paces on set.
Instagram user brasherj posted this video this morning with the caption:
How was your alarm clock this morning? Because mine was the effing #BATMOBILE!
OK, it is crappy video, but its way more than anything else we’ve seen. The camera truck rolls by with a crane extension for the camera, and the Batmobile soon follows. Although this might just be the production getting some test footage, to see how things look on the screen. We all know if there’s a Batmobile, there’s gonna be a big chase scene. This one looks to be the Batmobile weaving in and out of deserted/run down buildings.
If brasherj was woken up by the rumbling of the Batmobile then this must have been the second of third run through for the Batmobile. I’m just glad it’s not all being done on green screen and CGI. Well done practical effects and actual vehicle scenes make the best action sequences.
We’re sure to get some better video in a few days as production continues. Don’t get your hopes up though, it’s not like this movie is coming out next summer. We’ve got a whole other year to wait after that. The summer of 2016 can’t come fast enough for me now. Until then, just mumble na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na BATMAAAN to yourself under your breath. People may stare, but at least you’ll be able to get any seat you want on the subway.
