Things are heating up as we approach the November 21st premiere date for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. Over the weekend a new teaser hit the Internet and the second trailer is scheduled to pop later today around noon. How far into Suzanne Collins third book will director Francis Lawrence take us in Part 1?
As promised the second full trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay has hit the Internet. It’s full of action and arrows flying everywhere. Take a look and then let’s discuss:
Well, a lot of people have wondered why the third book was split into two movies. It looks like the Hunger Game Powers That Be want to push the limits on action and war from the book. I have to say that when I first read Mockingjay I thought the war parts were too quickly glossed over. We’re sure to get just about every scene from the book, fleshed out to the maximum.
The white rose scene was one of the most chilling in the book for me and seeing Jennifer Lawrence pull off that scene will be a treat. The casting of Donald Sutherland as Snow was insightful. Although the producers stated that they would not be doing any CGI scenes of Philip Seymour Hoffman, I am interested in how they worked around the scenes left after his tragic death.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay will blow it away at the box office, but most likely won’t save what has been a dismal year for Hollywood.
What stood out for you in this new trailer?
Let’s start with a look at the new teaser which was posted to Instagram yesterday:
Well, it certainly was… teasery, teaserish, teaserriffic? There wasn’t all that much to it. We’ve got Jennifer Lawrence in all her glory raising, what looks like it must be, her new special bow that Beetee (Jeffery Wright), the technical wizard from District 3 made her. Looks like Gale (Liam Hemsworth) is by her side with a crossbow. Not sure I really get that part. I thought he was big on guns at this point in the story. Perhaps someone else who’s recently read the book can clue me in.
I don know that Beetee takes Gale’s home-grown affinity for traps and turns that knowledge into powerful weapons used against the Capital and President Snow (Donald Sutherland).
Here’s a promotional poster that recently came out. Take a look and see if you can tell me what the hell that feather/knife-blade/I-don’t-know-what-the-hell-it-is coming over her left shoulder. Whatever it might be, it sure is distracting.
