agents-of-shield-season-1-episode-1

It’s just seven more sleeps until Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns with all new adventures that will pit Agent Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his ragtag crew against a world that sees S.H.I.E.L.D. as the bad guy. We’ve seen a sneak peak, but now through the power of social media we get our first good look at next week’s season premiere. The show left a lot of dangling threads when it went on hiatus in May, and it seems as though S.H.I.E.L.D. is going to waste no time in dropping some new clues to those lingering mysteries. So what do the S.H.I.E.L.D. gang have in store for season 2? Let’s check it out.

In the below scene, we catch up with Skye (Chloe Bennet) and Agent Triplett (B.J. Britt) as they discuss the nature of Agent Koenig (Patton Oswalt) and the seemingly never ending number of twin brothers he has. Oh, by the way, Skye’s been investigating that gobbledegook that both Garrett and Coulson were drawing at the end of season one, a side effect of their exposure to the alien-derived medicine. Coulson makes an appearance too, and it seems that things are kind of chill between the S.H.I.E.L.D. boss and his protege. Oh, and there’s some develops here that Skye doesn’t seem to like.

So, shall we roll the clip?

So exciting. I guess. It seems that the writers are ratcheting up the tension for the new season, and getting a little more serious in the implications. On the other hand, it also looks like they’re going to drag this alien mystery out some more. The real question is, will Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. be able to maintain its end of season momentum and keep up the roller coaster ride as we kick off another year, or will the show end up falling back on old habits? Time will tell.
