A new trailer hit last night for Matthew Vaughn‘s Kingsman: The Secret Service featuring a brand new track from Iggy Azalea along with singer Ellie Goudling. Based on The Secret Service comic book created by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. All indicators point toward a fun super secret spy agency type movie, although I do have to say that when I saw this trailer my first thought was, Harry Potter goes to Spy school. Give the trailer a go and then let’s discuss it below.

Kingsman: The Secret Service stars Colin Firth, Michael Caine, Taron Egerton and Samuel L. Jackson. Here’s the official synopsis.

Based upon the acclaimed comic book and directed by Matthew Vaughn (Kick Ass, X-Men First Class), Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.

The banter between the two main characters, Colin Firth’s Harry Hart, and Taron Egerton’s Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin seems to flow evenly, both scoring their own points in a nice match-up of young upstart and wizened mentor. Michael Caine is there to establish the true British nature of the spy organization and Samuel L. Jackson jumps in to add all the crazy shit this film needs to bring audiences deeper into the Kingsman: The Secret Service world and the edge of their theater seats.

I have no trouble seeing this movie do well at the box office even with its main competition opening weekend being 50 Shades of Grey, mainly because 50 shades will be an awkward date movie. What kind of signal does it send to take your date to what is basically a BDSM commercial. You’d have to be pretty sure of your relationship to make that move.

If you haven’t read the comic book then I suggest you get yourself down to the local shop and pick up the trade, it’s well worth your time and money.

Kingsman: The Secret Service hits theater screens February 13th, 2015.
