The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hit theaters earlier this year and was met with more than a little criticism. The crowded story and over the top acting walked a line that was a bit too reminiscent of 1995’s Batman Forever for Spidey fans and while the movie still managed to drum up a little over $700 million worldwide box office, it was still the lowest earner of the franchise. There are plenty of things that could have made the movie better, and the people over at HISHE have given TASM2 the “How It Should Have Ended” treatment to show us just how much better it could have been.
Honestly, the video really needs no introduction and it may be the best Spider-Man video ever. Give it a watch!
I’m pretty upset that TASM2 screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci couldn’t find a way to fit the line, “I lost my uncle dad,” into the final cut of the movie but c’est la vie.
Would anyone consider this canon-accurate? Not in the slightest. However, that doesn’t take anything away from the awesomeness of the video. Imagine how much better TASM2 could have been if Harry Osborn had just had a reasonable conversation with Spider-Man, explaining that he wasn’t just shooting up Spidey blood, for instance. There were plenty of opportunities for the filmmakers to correct the path of the movie, but they just kept passing those opportunities by. Here’s hoping that TASM3 winds up better than its predecessor, with at least 100% more Supes.
