While he may only “work in black and sometimes very, very dark grey,” the powers that be over at Warner Bros. want to capitalize on the Lego Batman’s incredible popularity in the LEGO Movie. Everyone loved that crazy guy, and not in the gritty, dark as all get out Batman we’ve known in comics and the big screen. It was more like Adam West and Christian Bale had a love child that sounded a hell of a lot like Will Arnett. Wanna know more details?

The Lego Movie’s  animation supervisor Chris McKay will be directing the Lego Batman Movie based on a script written by Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter). Producer Christopher Miller tweeted this earlier today:

Word is that Will Arnett will be back to voice the character although that’s not official yet, the ink must still be drying.

We’re gonna have to wait until 2017 to see it though, until then we’ll have to scratch that Lego Movie itch with the Lego movie Ninjago which hits theater screens September 23rd, 2016.We’ll still get The Lego Movie 2, it’s set to release on May 26, 2017, although there is some speculation that the Lego Batman may take that slot.

We can only hope that the Lego Batman movie will take and retain that humorous tone we all loved in The Lego Movie. Now this gets me wondering what other Batman characters we might see?
