FX couldn’t bring it, but Sony TV has gotten Brian BendisPowers through Pilot production to series. Right off the bat we’re gonna warn you that there’s strong language in this trailer. Definitely not safe for work, or in front of small children. What this trailer does show is that Sony TV has an interesting look at Super Powers and the police that must try to… police them in Powers.

Sharlto Copley (A-Team) plays Detective Christian Walker with Susan Heyward (The Following) as Walker’s new partner Deena Pilgrim. Check out how these two try to build a trusting partnership and bring justice to their city.

“Powers,” an edgy dramatic series from Sony Pictures Television and inspired by the graphic novel series of the same name, follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker (Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Heyward), who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions, what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals? Enter the men and women of the Powers Division, the only people brave enough to go up against the overpaid, commercialized, superhumans who glide through the sky imposing their power over the crowds below who both worship and fear them.

I have to say that I was impressed with what I saw in the trailer. There’s plenty of back-story to discover along with some great tension between the two leads. Now I’ve just got to figure out how I am going to watch this, since I don’t own a Playstation and don’t plan on buying one. I’m too old-school a PC gamer I guess. The last console game I owned was a Super Nintendo and I sold that at a garage sale years ago.

I’m sure a lot of you might chime in that I should get back in since the technology has improved so much, and you may be right. Perhaps this kind of television show might change my mind about owning a console.
