Dave Bautista‘s star continues to burn brightly. He’s just come off a well received performance as Drax the Destroyer in James Gunn‘s incredibly successful Guardians of the Galaxy and now word about the Internet water cooler is that Bautista is up for another fantastically villainous role in the upcoming James Bond film by director Sam Mendes.
While the James Bond franchise has gone through a number of actors playing that iconic James Bond role one constant is that Bond always has some fabulously colorful villains and nefarious henchmen to combat. Here’s a few that stand out as some of the franchise’s favorites:
Now word has it from Latino-Review’s El Mayimbe that Dave Bautista is being considered for director Sam Mendes’s next James Bond henchman. The last three Daniel Craig Bond films have had interesting villains, but pretty forgettable henchmen. It looks like Mendes wants to create, and put his own spin on a memorable henchman for Craig to fight. Last August a casting call went out for a character named Hinx.
Hinx (Male, 30 – 45) – Ideally over 6′ 2″. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.
Sounds a hell of a lot like Bautista doesn’t it? Considering how well received his Drax was in the box office by fans and critics alike, he very well could be the first choice for this new Bond Henchman. Now I find myself wondering what special weapon he’d use if he gets the role. He’s just had training with knifes in GOT so that might be something Mendes can build on.
What do you think, is Bautista a good fit for a Bond Villain’s Henchman?
