Celebrities impersonating other celebrities, like most things, usually either crash and burn like the Hindenburg, or as in the case with Benedict Cumberbatch, knock it out of the park. What’s even more impressive about Cumberbatch, is the that in this video, he does multiple impersonations in a 60 second window.
Recently Cumberbatch sat down with MTV After Hours to discuss his latest film The Imitation Game:
Based on the real life story of legendary cryptanalyst Alan Turing, the film portrays Turing and his motley team of code-breakers at Britain’s top-secret Government Code and Cypher School at Bletchley Park, during the darkest days of World War II.
The film spans the key periods of Turing’s life: his unhappy teenage years at boarding school; the triumph of his secret wartime work on the revolutionary electro-mechanical bomb that was capable of breaking 3,000 Enigma-generated naval codes a day; and the tragedy of his conviction for maintaining a homosexual relationship. The conviction eventually contributed to his suicide.
After they completed the obligatory press questions and promotion about the movie MTV After Hours moved on to have a little fun with their guest with their own Imitation Game.
Cumberbatch nailed more than one of the impressions, and did passable impressions of the rest that included Matthew McConaughey, Tom Hiddleston, Michael Caine, Jack Nicholson, and a singing Taylor Swift.
