First time this has ever happened. Okay, I’d like it more if the Star Sapphire’s would justkeep holding it down on an all-female crew, but that goes to show you how much pull I have. We’re talking zero pull. But I’m a fan of John Stewart, as everyone should be. In fact, everyone should be fans of every member of the Green Lantern Corps because those guys are out for good work. And they rock. In this case, it’s all about JS. Here we have a story about the Green Lanterns, that has nothing to do with the Gl’s per se. For this section, we discuss the integration of Green Lantern John Stewart, somehow being shifted into the other spectrum, the Star Sapphires.
Okay guys, there’s not a lot to say about this. But Comixology writes “Godhead” Part 8! Continued from GREEN LANTERN (2011) #36! With Hal Jordan missing, John Stewart must take control of the Green Lanterns and rally the Indigo Tribe, the Red Lanterns, and even the Sinestro Corps to work together. Continued in GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS #36!” On the costume:
“There was actually a handful of different designs that I had submitted, some that were more based on his Green Lantern outfit but had some pink accents to it — even a hybrid of both — because he still had the Green Lantern ring on at the same time. There was even one where he was almost shirtless, because the Star Sapphires don’t have a lot of clothing on them. So I thought maybe John would be pseudo-shirtless and half-naked. But at the end we ended up going with this. It’s a little more. A lot of the lines are pretty jagged. I think that has something to do with the recent turmoil that he’d experienced. But the green energy is still very fluid on his exterior. So I think there’s a nice counterbalance, ultimately, with the final design that is uniform but exudes energy.“
Yeah, I get it. Give J. Stewart something to do. It has to be a gimmick because I personally never saw JS as being Mr. Love, ever. He’s a guy who stands straight before his military duty, but hey, if DC feels like he needs more love in his heart by associating him with the SS, then rock on. If you’d asked me, I’d say that he and Kyle Rayner would’ve had a great storyline investigating the story of Soranik or the story of Miri and Jade. But hey, if they think this is a good course of action, I’m willing to sit in and see what develops.
