The Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer is showing no signs of wavering just yet; with myriad parody trailers – from the George Lucas cut, to the Wes Anderson version – being churned out on a daily basis. So it’s nice to see some footage from other highly anticipated tent-pole films coming out next year – particularly if it happens to be a brief behind-the-scenes clip from Joss Whedon‘s Avengers: Age of Ultron. What is so great about this footage? …well, apart from its briefness, it’s the way in which it somewhat manages to demonstrate the actual scale of how colossal this mega-budgeted superhero film is actually going to be. From this thirty-one second clip, we can extrapolate the magnitude and scale of what has went into the second installment of The Avengers – and just going by this, we are definitely going to be treated to an action-packed – Hulk-smashing – extravaganza.
In the behind-the-scenes video we have director Joss Whedon nonchalantly – and metaphorically – checking off all the obligatory boxes that make for the prototypical ingredients which are fundamental in appeasing fandom in the colossal mega-budget sequel. Some of the key footage involves Elisabeth Olson‘s Scarlet Witch who seems to be creating a bit of mayhem amongst the madness. There is also some footage of Aaron Taylor-Johnson‘s Quicksilver …you guessed it… whizzing through a debris-filled (…and impressive looking) set.
So we have: Mass destruction, check. Superheroes, check. Beautiful locations, check. Joss Whedon upping the anticipatory ante by showing off the merits of his bona fide mega-budgeted sequel, check.
You can watch the footage below and check all the boxes for yourselves folk. Although we are just warning you… you still have a long wait ahead, as the film doesn’t hit the theaters until summer 2015…
The clip is from a longer bonus feature which is available on the Guardians of the Galaxy Blu-ray that was released today. Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is released into theaters on the May 1st, 2o15.
