Al Pacino is sitting by the phone patiently waiting for Marvel to call. Well, not really, but he would take their call if it happens. He took his kids to see James Gunn‘s  Guardians of the Galaxy and it blew him away. He says he’s ready to take the Marvel leap and join the ranks of Anthony Hopkins, Robert Redford, Tommy Lee Jones, Jeff Bridges, Glenn Close, and Michael Douglas, but what role should he play?

It all started back in Italy when Pacino made an off-hand comment about liking Guardians of the Galaxy. That snowballed into what happened in the video below when MTV sat down with Pacino:

Recently Pacino appeared on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast and had some very interesting news. At the 32.50 Mark Pacino discusses how he felt seeing GOTG and had an interesting update.

Now that Pacino has revealed that he’s met with Marvel’s Cinematic Universe “Big Picture” Guru Kevin Feige we might soon hear something about a possible role for Pacino.

I would imagine either there’s something he feels is right for me, or…

What role might be right for Pacino? We’ve got a few ideas. First up is role that might appear in Guardians of the Galaxy II, Peter Quill’s father (From the comics), J’son of Spartax, the Emperor of the Spartoi Empire.

Now a few of you are going to throw that James Gunn quote at me that says:

There have been a lot of documents passed around about who Peter Quill’s father is between a select two or three of us. That’s been part of the plan since the beginning, that’s something I had to work out before we shot the screenplay. We wanted to make sure Yondu’s place in everything made sense and it does, so it’s all very specific stuff. It’s definitely not the character who it is in the comics, I’ll say that much.

Now I am not going to say that Gunn is lying here, but it may be more of a combination of known characters into the movie version of Peter Quill’s father.A combination that should include portions of J’son character traits. How ever the character of Peter Quill’s father ends up, wouldn’t it be a kick to see Chris Pratt go up against Al Pacino?

Next up is Dormammu, The Lord of the Realm of Darkness and chief enemy of Doctor Strange.

How cool would it be to have Benedict Cumberbatch go up against Al Pacino in an all out Mystic Death Match in Doctor Strange? I could see this happening. There’s two more characters from Doctor Strange that Pacino could easily take on, perhaps Baron Mordo:

Baron Mordo was the Ancient One’s apprentice before Stephen Strange showed up and he has a deep hatred for Strange usurping his chance to be the Sorcerer Supreme. Let’s not forget another of Doctor Strange’s favorite villains, Nightmare.

He’s the ruler of the Dream Dimension, the place humans go when they have… you guessed it, nightmares. Strange and Nightmare have fought numerous times and could easily fit into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as one of the most powerful beings in the universe.

Those are just a few off the top of my head. Pacino is a talented actor and could easily be found a role in any Marvel movie, the key is finding a role that interests him and challenges his acting talents. That would be something to see. Unlike when Tommy Lee Jones just played the same character we always see him play, the grizzled soldier. We all saw how that turned out in Captain America: The First Avenger. Not that he was bad, but Jones certainly wasn’t truly memorable in the role.

What role would you like to see Pacino take on?
