As we reported at the end of last week, production has wrapped on Zack Snyder‘s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and now the spoilers are coming at us in like flies round s**t. There has been rumored plot points about potential major villains, and more has been revealed about Justice League characters and their potential story-arcs . Now if that isn’t bad enough, there are now spoilers about characters in the Batman universe that are not even included in the movie (…it will make much more sense when you read about it – if you decide to read about it!). To explain the logistics behind this would involve revealing a rumor that is based on another rumor, which is based on uncertain revelations (… are you still following us,?! it’s kind of like a ‘matryoshku’ of rumors – eventually you will get to the center of it all, then the movie wont be as fun…), so if you are alright with potential spoilers then feel free to read on, and if you are trying to avoid all SPOILERS before the release date of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, then you know the drill.
***This Article Is Riddled With SPOILERS***
We don’t really want to get into the semantics, definition and what constitutes a spoiler being a spoiler, but this piece of information – although deeply important to the DC universe (and in particular, the Batman universe – is not something that actually happens in the movie. It is an important piece of information that happens before Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, as apparently the character is already dead before the movie even begins.
Badest Digest, who have some really good sources on the Batman v Superman production, have revealed that Commissioner Gordon is has already been toe-tagged and buried six-feet-under before Zack Snyder‘s film even begins. Here is the quote that was provided by Badest:
“In this continuity James Gordon has, at some point in the past, bitten the dust. How and at whose hands I cannot tell you – all that’s noted in the script is that there’s a memorial plaque to James Gordon. This explains why the role wasn’t cast for the film, at least.”
What are we to expect with the eventual planned Batman standalone movies that have been penciled in by Warner, without Commissioner Gordon?! He has already played dead once in Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight, but chances of that happened again are very slim (…as it would be starting to take the biscuit, and nothing says ‘fixing-up-plot-holes’, like a good old deus ex machina). Here are some ridiculous suggestions that are flying around the interwebs for the potential reason behind Gordon‘s death: perhaps DC don’t want people to get confused with what’s going on in Fox‘s TV series Gotham (…because that’s going to happen …Gotham is a prequel, and if people can’t figure that one out they should go back to play-school); This could be an indication that we will see Batman solo outings before the release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (if you believe that, …then that’s pretty cool – you have wild imagination, but logistics come into play here, such as “filming-schedules”) and last but not least, as seventeen years have past – this is according the the Badest Digest source – since the off-screen death of Commissioner Gordon, perhaps this is another plot device to build Batman into a more seasoned veteran crime fighter, as Batman and Gordon have always been somewhat symbiotic in their existence. I’ll let you be the judge!
With the likes of Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor and Cyborg turning up in Snyder‘s Batman v Superman, it’s a safe bet to say that Affleck‘s Batman will also be part of The Justice League parts 1 and 2, as this movie is basically a precursor to those movies. We also know (…due to leaked photos of the IMAX cameras on set) that we are going to be seeing the death of Bruce Wayne‘s parents again (…really? …DC like to throw that all in our in our faces …however save the screen time for the over abundance of characters that are receiving their first cinematic introduction here eh?). This is all suggestive of an angrier, the-whole-world-is-against-me, solo Batman outing, where he can literally trust nobody – which does actually sound kinda cool…
