Playstation Network‘s adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis‘ Powers, the second go around at it, has some new cast photos making the Internet rounds. The first attempt didn’t make it past the Pilot stage for the FX Network, but the powers that be liked the concept material enough to give them another go at it, albeit with a different cast and moving it to the Playstation Network. Let’s take a look at the cast in costume.
The cast from left to right are: Michelle Forbes, Sharlto Copley, Susan Heyward, Olesya Rulin, Eddie Izzard, and Noah Taylor.
Entertainment Tonight has some individual character shots you can check out in the gallery below:
I’m really looking forward to what Izzard does with his Powers character Big Bad Wolfe, who Izzard discussed saying:
I was slightly worried, because Wolfe does kill and eat people—and I had just come off Hannibal! But I haven’t seen a character like this before.
Here’s the SDCC2014 Powers teaser trailer:
If you don’t have a Playstation, don’t worry, Sony won’t be making this totally exclusive to the console platform. Word is that the series could show up on Crackle, or some of the overseas streaming services.
While the original Pilot wasn’t good enough for prime time TV, this second run at it for Playstation Network looks like a vast improvement over the first attempt. The first two episodes were scripted by Charlie Huston (Not much to go on, considering his IMDB page has one writer credit: All Signs of Death, which I haven’t heard of.) and more importantly, directed by David Slade (Hannibal, Breaking Bad, Hard Candy). If Slade brings that same style and hard gut wrenching style to Powers then we’re in for a treat.
If you haven’t read the Powers comics, then I suggest you get down to your local comic book shop, or if you have to, the local Books a Million or Barnes and Noble and pick up the Who Killed Retro Girl trade. It is a great read by Bendis, who is a great comic book writer, and has fantastic art by Michael Avon Oeming.
