Nothing beats a good ‘is-Spider-Man-going-back-to-Marvel’ rumor. This one is especially good due to the source that it came from. It’s no secret that Marvel and Sony have been conversing with each other regarding a deal to bring Spidey into Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. We seen some of the conversations that were shared through the Sony Hacks scandal just before Christmas. For some Marvel fans, it looked like Christmas had come early in the form of speculative talks about Spidey returning home. Supposedly the web-slinger would appear in Marvel’s 2016 release Captain America: Civil War. However, talks dissipated as a deal could not be reached that satisfied both parties. Consequently, the natural assumption was that Spidey was to remain at Sony, and they were unsure how to move forward with the character due to the lackluster performance of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but now we have something a little more concrete.
The latest rumor has nothing to do with what is happening with Spider-Man over at troubled Sony Pictures, and more to do with what Marvel have in store for the character. The rumor is reporting that a deal has been closed with Marvel and Sony, and now plans are being made to introduce him into the MCU. But, as Captain America: Civil War, is going into production soon, the next opportunity for the character to make a proper appearance will be in 2018s Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.
Now, you may all be thinking: “oh dear… here we go again with the Spidey rumors,” but here is the kicker! The rumor comes from Latino Review, which is a site well-known for landing big superhero scoops. And they are more often right than they are wrong (well mostly). They do get things so ridiculously wrong sometimes). But don’t get your panties in a twist just yet.
The article details how Marvel’s Phase Three will play out and how the Spidey will fit into the MCU. If you decide you want to read the rumor/scoop, I will warn you just now that there are ***HUGE SPOILERS*** involving the fate of some of our favorite superheroes in the MCU, and other things of a similar ilk. I will leave it entirely up to yourself, but you might read it and wished you hadn’t, as the spoilers are pretty goddam big.
The main thing to take away from this article is that Latino Review have declared that: “Spider-Man IS in [Avengers: Infinity War Part 1], the Sony deal went through.”
There have been no official statements as of yet, so this could be one of those unfortunate scoops that the website have got wrong. But we will keep you updated on all the action as it develops.
What do you think of Spider-Man joining the MCU and 2018’s Avengers Infinity War Part 1? Does this news get you excited?
