Josh Trank’s ‘Fantastic Four’ Reboot Trailer To Premiere At ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ Screenings
We’d love to include a bunch of officially released production stills, or behind the scenes clips and interviews from the cast, but there just aren’t any. Word around the Internet is that FOX isn’t happy with the movie’s first cut of Josh Trank‘s Fantastic Four reboot and have ordered re-shoots in Louisiana later this month. For a movie that comes out in seven months, the lack of marketing and publicity is concerning to fans. The only publicity this movie seems to be getting is the bad kind, full of fan worry and behind the scenes problems. Now we finally know when we will see a trailer for the movie.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens doesn’t come out doesn’t come out until December and we’ve already seen director J.J.Abrams send out tweets, Instagrams, hold charity contests, and release a teaser that blew up the Internet. You’d think we’d have at least seen a few things, some character designs, costumes, something from Trank’s reboot, but at least now we know when we’ll see the trailer.
FOX is planning on premiering the Fantastic Four trailer at the Kingsman: The Secret Service screenings. While Kingsman opens in the US on February 15th, the UK will get it earlier on January 29th. I imagine we’ll see some Internet release of the trailer, official or not, soon after.
Now let’s talk about those re-shoots that Fox was denying just the other day. An un-named FOX Executive was quoted as saying the movie was “a mess”. Simon Kinberg, a producer on Fantastic Four talked with Latino Review saying:
To confirm – Fantastic Four will be doing 3-4 days of additional photography with director Josh Trank and some key cast members. We are very excited about the film and can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been up to. And you will be able to do that very soon as I can confirm here that the teaser will be on Kingsman in theaters February 13.
To go along with this statement the FOX public relations group has gotten in touch with a number of sites like Bleedingcool to explain that these re-shoots are:
…relatively standard for some pick up shots with the director post the main shoot wrapping
While re-shoots are a standard, planned for and scheduled part of the production process in many productions, the behind the scene mumblings and worried comments are not. Does this meant he movie will suck? No it doesn’t, but it is troubling.
What many are speculating is that the film is not what FOX expected. That the group will not be the Fantastic Four or appear in costume until the very end of the movie. Which makes sense if this is an origin story. One of the other rumors swirling around the Internet is that the re-shoots are to include more action scenes as the movie is heavy on character development and light on punching things.
The best thing to do now is wait until we can get a look at the trailer and see just exactly how FOX is presenting Trank’s vision of Marvel’s first family.
